Me? Oh, I'm anti-prescriptivist except I support the death penalty for anyone who says "a software".
There's a funny shift that happened to the word "talent". To me, "a talent" is (ignoring the unit of measure) an affinity or skill possessed by a person. At some point, media production folks started using "the talent" as a jargony hand-wave to refer to actors, singers, dancers, or performers of any type.
So now you see a lot of people who say things like "I am a voice-over talent", using the word "talent" to mean "a talented person".
Personally, I think "talent" is a word that refers to a kind of poisonous myth of "innate abilities". That's why I like the word "affinity" instead: it's some quality of a person that means they're inclined to put the time and attention into a skill or subject.
@spacehobo Man, I thought I was a pedant.
@penryu Do people say "A hammer is a hardware"?
Do people sit on "a furniture"?
Do you turn on "an equipment"?
@spacehobo @penryu Well, now I do, yes
@spacehobo @penryu thank you for your leniency
@spacehobo beware of those who refer to software 'codes'
