Folks, when somebody blocks you on the fediverse, it’s not an invitation to email them instead.

Don’t be a creep.

Space Hobo

@aral Veitch is a known professional e-mail troll. He was probably hoping to get an interaction he could turn into another TEDx talk.

@Loukas @aral I mean you can look up his talks about baiting spammers/scammers on YouTube if you're curious. They're entertaining enough, if it's your first experience of the genre.

@spacehobo @aral that sounds like actual good work. It's a shame he uses the skillset to be passive aggressive and bait people because he wants to feel politically and also 'civility' superior to them.

@aral @Loukas Well now, that's a solid yike or two...

@aral @spacehobo Jesus actual Christ. I hope the book deal etc doesn't exist any more.

@Loukas @aral @spacehobo

To hell with rapists. They’re never as good as the people they drove out of the field. Even if they are, by some miracle, not mediocre assholes, to hell with them anyway.

@akareilly @aral @spacehobo Yes let's have better boundaries against abusers, and by doing so we get to swap them for ten times as many good people.

And as this exchange shows, ignoring boundaries is a persistent behaviour by these abusers. It's not isolated to one aspect of their 'private' life. They are toxic and toxify their surroundings.

@Loukas @aral @spacehobo

It’s never a conspiracy to take out The One True Whatever either. Where there is smoke, there is fire. And more smoke, and more fire, and another one, and another one, and another one.

@akareilly @aral @spacehobo Yes, the reason professional ranks are closed for abusers is because they are the tip of an entire system based on selecting for the 'successful' characteristics of a Harvey Weinstein. In other words, the ignoring of boundaries as a way of pursuing a career.

@akareilly @Loukas @aral Yeah. We "silence" his host anyway, but I've just blocked pre-emptively.
